Bluejays Dominate at Home Game Against the Tigers

On Friday, September 11, the Pierce Bluejays scored their third victory at their home game against the North Bend Central Tigers with a striking score of 48-13.
To start off the first quarter the Tigers scored a touchdown with a 3-yard run. The Bluejays, however, rallied back with two touchdowns. The first touchdown was scored by David Dale with a 24-yard run and an extra point kick by Chaden Roth getting the Bluejays up to 7. The second touchdown was a 17-yard run from Michael Kruntorad and then another extra point kick by Roth getting the Bluejays to 14 points at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter the Bluejay’s momentum carried them to another 2 touchdowns, leaving the Tigers stunned with a score of 28-6. Starting the Bluejays off strong Tyler Race had a 2-yard run to score the first touchdown of the second quarter. Roth had another extra point kick getting the Bluejays to 21 points. Scoring the second touchdown in the second quarter was Dale again with a 17-yard run and another extra point kick by Roth to end the second quarter with the score 28-6.
For the third quarter, the Bluejays, with no stopping in mind, scored 2 more touchdowns. The Jays defense again had the Tigers stunned with no touchdowns. Colton Fritz started the Bluejays off strong with a 55-yard kickoff return for a touchdown after an onside kick from the Tigers. Roth again kicked the PAT pushing the score to 35-6. Finishing off the third quarter was Abram Scholting with a 25-yard run advancing the Bluejays to 41 points with a no good kick by Roth.
Wrapping up the fourth quarter the Bluejays gave up a 39-yard pass touchdown by the Tigers giving them 14 points, but the Bluejays quickly responded with a touchdown. Scoring the touchdown was Zach Collison with a 4-yard run and an extra point kick by Keenan Valverde making the end score of the game 48-13.
Head coach Mark Brahmer said, “We were quite proud of our young men and their overall effort and their execution of our game plan. We practiced well last week and worked hard in preparation, so we expected to play well. Besides a few areas, we played well through the game. North Bend is a good football team, so the victory is a quality one.”
The Bluejays had a total of 461 yards for the evening. They had 46 passing yards leaving the rest to 415 rushing yards.
Catch the football team this week as they play again on Friday, September 18, against the Arlington Eagles at Arlington High School.
JV Football Takes the Win Against Scotus

On Tuesday, September 8, the Pierce JV football team edged out Columbus Scotus with a score of 28-36.
To start off the first quarter, the Bluejays didn’t score but Scotus did, ending the first quarter with a score of 12-0.
In the second quarter, the Bluejays kicked it in gear and scored two touchdowns. Scotus, holding a tough ground, scored another touchdown making the score 20-14.
After halftime, the Bluejays scored two touchdowns leaving Scotus stunned by not scoring anything. The score at the end of the third quarter was 20-28.
For the final quarter, both teams battled and both scored eight points. Because Pierce had the lead, they held Scotus for the 28-36 victory.
Keenan Valverde had four touchdown rushes along with Jayden Coulter with one touchdown run.
Sophomore lineman Bode Hoffmann said, “I think as a team we could’ve taken care of the ball and executed better, but I’m proud that we were able to overcome the adversity and come back from a 12-0 deficit.”
The next JV game is at Battle Creek on Monday, September 21, at 5 p.m.
