Pierce High’s boys cross country team rocked the Boone Central Invitational on Friday, September 4. The Pierce boys team took home the gold with a team score of 37. For this meet, Pierce was not able to compete as a girls team due to only 3 girls running.
Individually for the boys, Mason Sindelar was the meet champion with a time of 15:52.66. Gavin Geneski came in fifth with a time of 17:00.46. Christopher Efta finished in 10th with a time of 17:35.13. Ashton Koch placed 22nd with a time of 18:42.35. Colt Arnold finished 40th with a time of 20:12.14.
The Pierce girls all placed very well taking the top three places. Alexus Sindelar took first place with a time of 19:10.15. Payten Simmons placed second with a time of 20:15.47. Callie Arnold came in third with a time of 20:16.96. This marked the first time Pierce girls placed at the top at the Boone Central Invitational.
Coach Gary Shada said, “I was extremely pleased with how everyone competed. It was a hot day, and the conditions were rough, but everybody was well prepared. Almost everyone who ran this and last year had a faster time this year, and it was much warmer this year than last. When the boys won the meet it marked the first time that a team from Pierce had won the Boone Central Invite.”
The cross country teams have a big next two weeks with meets at Norfolk Catholic on September 11, Wayne on September 14, and O’Neill on September 18.
