The Pierce High volleyball teams traveled to O’Neill on Thursday, August 27. The varsity, despite having the lead in a back and forth match, fell short, losing to the Eagles 3-1, with the ending scores of 24-26, 24-26, 25-22 and 14-25.
Leading the team in attacking was Kennedy Warneke with 10 aces and was followed by freshmen Jaya Wachholtz and Maggie Painter with eight and seven kills, respectively.
Also leading the team with serves were Kenzie Moeller and Faith Lubischer with 5 aces apiece.
Coach Zach Weber stated, “We did a lot of really good things, but we have a long way to go. At all levels, we made too many errors and were not aggressive enough out of the system.”
Going along with the varsity loss, the JV fell short in the third set to the Eagles 22-25, losing 2-1. However, despite both losses the Pierce High C team took home the win.
The volleyball teams will be playing again on Thursday, September 3, against rival Norfolk Catholic.
