New Students at PHS

Pierce Welcomes Zach Meier

Zach Meier recently joined Pierce High school in the freshmen class, as he used to go to Zion Lutheran before. Meier has three siblings, two brothers and 1 sister. His brothers are Jakob and Garret, and his sister is Larissa. He has one dog named Kaya, and some of his hobbies include working on the farm and playing sports. 

Meier’s favorite class at the moment is introduction to agriculture with Mr. Neal. 

Meier says his first week of school went good by saying, “The first week of school went good for what I expected it to be.” 


New Freshman Tate Reinke

Tate Reinke joins the Class of 2024 at Pierce High as he recently came from Zion Lutheran School. Reinke has one cat named Angeline, and some of his hobbies include fishing and making things. Some of the extracurriculars he is doing this year include football, baseball, and marching band. 

Reinke’s favorite class so far this year is health and P.E. class with Mrs. Fleecs because the class is really fun. 

When asked how the first week of school went for him, he responded with, “The first week of school went pretty good; it’s different but good.”


Zion Freshman Comes to Pierce

Pierce High welcomes freshman Jordan Kuether, who lives in Pierce and came from Zion Lutheran School. He hopes that he can pass all of his classes this year. 

Kuether doesn’t have any siblings. 

He says the biggest change from Zion to Pierce High for him is the different class opportunities and the different environments. His opinion of this school so far is very good! Kuether says, “I like going to Mr. Lopez’s Spanish class every day.” 

In his free time, he likes to draw and make art.


New Freshman Trever Montgomery Joins Pierce High

Trevor Montgomery is a new freshman at Pierce High who used to go to Zion Lutheran school. Montgomery has two sisters, Harper and Payton. He has one dog named Bailey and a couple of his hobbies include hunting and fishing. He is also playing football this year. 

Montgomery’s favorite class so far this year is Intro to Agriculture with Mr. Neal. When asked why introduction to agriculture is his favorite class, he says, “We do some really fun activities, and Mr. Neal is a fun teacher.” 

When asked how Montgomery’s first week of school went, he replied with, “It went really good, and I feel like it went really smooth.” 


New Freshman Comes to Pierce

Freshman Zavien Buol came from Norfolk and now lives in Pierce. 

Buol said, “I am looking forward to playing sports this year with everyone.” 

He is the oldest child and has an eight-week-old brother. The biggest change he said was coming from a bigger school to a smaller school, and he has liked it here so far. 

He enjoys going to English with Mrs. Legate, and outside of school, he likes to hunt and fish.  


Former Zion Student Abby Watts Attends Pierce High

Pierce High is happy to welcome new freshman, Abby Watts, who previously attended Zion Lutheran. 

She said the biggest change from Zion to PHS is having fewer classes from eight to four a day. 

Her favorite subject is English, and this year Watts looks forward to getting good grades and having a track season. Watts said, “Pierce is easy going, and I like the warming environment.” 

Watts lives in Pierce and has six siblings along with one dog named Max. One hobby of hers is running sprints. 


New Freshman Jaya Wachholtz Joins Pierce High

Pierce is very happy to welcome former Zion student, Jaya Wachholtz, to the freshman class. 

Wachholtz said one of the biggest changes from Zion to Pierce is the number of people and the size of the school. 

Her favorite subject in school is art, and her favorite sport is volleyball. Wachholtz said, “This year I am mostly looking forward to having a fun and successful season in volleyball.” 

She currently lives in Pierce and has one sibling, Jacksen, who is in the sophomore class at Pierce High. One thing that stood out to Wachholtz about Pierce is the welcoming environment. 

Pierce High is happy to welcome Wachholtz to the class of 2024. 


New Student Merin Gossman Attends Pierce High

Pierce is happy to welcome new freshman Merin Gossman from Zion Lutheran School. Gossman claims the biggest switch between schools is having to move from class to class. When at Zion, she had a homeroom. 

Gossman said, “Pierce is really fun to attend and has many nice people.” One thing Gossman is looking forward to this year is meeting new friends. So far, her favorite class is Spanish. She hopes to take part in the Pierce FFA Chapter. 

Gossman lives outside of Pierce and has three brothers, three dogs and cattle. Gossman loves to spend her free time with friends.
