Graduation Date Set - June 13, 2020

Tuesday, May 26th, 2020

Pierce High Seniors & Parents,

We are excited to announce we will hold our graduation ceremony for the Pierce High School Class of 2020 on Saturday, June 13th, at 1 pm in the high school gymnasium. Because of state expectations, each graduate’s family will be limited to 6 individuals. These 6 individuals are asked to enter the high school building together through the main entrance at the same time and will be ushered to their seats by adult ushers. The front doors to the high school will open at 12:30 pm, and as people wait to be seated, we ask everyone to practice social distancing. Each family group will be seated together, but 6 feet will be allowed between groups. Pictures and video can be taken during the ceremony, but we ask that pre- and post-ceremony pictures be taken at your home.

Our graduates should arrive at 12:20 pm and park in the west concrete or gravel parking lots. Graduates will enter the building through the northwest doors by the multipurpose/wrestling room. All the graduates will wait in the multipurpose room until the ceremony begins. Please be sure to have your cap, gown, and tassel. Remember to also wear dress clothes underneath your gown. Blue jeans, sneakers, work boots, and flip flops aren’t allowed. Graduates will march single file into the ceremony in alphabetical order and will be seated 6 feet apart. All of our honor graduates, Presidential scholars, and scholar-athletes will be recognized, but they won’t be brought to the stage in a group. Our 2020 valedictorian and salutatorian will deliver their addresses to their fellow graduates. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to have our band and choir perform this year, so traditional graduation music will be played using the gym’s speaker system.

The ceremony will be streamed live, and the link will be posted on our school’s website, piercepublic.org, on graduation day. Although we would like to allow a post-ceremony receiving line to congratulate our graduates, we ask everyone leave at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Lastly, we would like to congratulate our graduates and their families. We thank you for your contributions, support, and leadership. We also thank you for your patience during this trying situation.

Sincerely,

Kendall Steffensen, Superintendent

Mark Brahmer, Principal
