Retirement of Kathy Duvall
by Michaela McWilliams
This year, Kathy Duvall has decided to transition to the next stage in her life and retire from her career of bus driving.
Duvall was a bus driver for Pierce students for around 45 years. According to Duvall, “Retiring is kind of scary because I don’t have a paycheck coming in every month, but I am also excited to take a break from getting up early, driving on bad roads, and dealing with screaming kids.” Duvall says she has had several memorable moments in her career. Some of her favorite moments occurred when she would drive the bus to kids’ activities. She also enjoyed having her children on her bus route. This gave her the opportunity to drive them to and from school every day.
Duvall will definitely miss the experience her career offered but she is ready to take the next step of her journey.
