Senior Parade
by Michaela McWilliams
On Friday, May 8, the Pierce High seniors decorated their vehicles and cruised Main Street to celebrate their final days of high school.
The festivities started at 7 p.m. as the seniors drove through the Pierce streets. They finished their journey in the east parking lot of the high school around 8 p.m. Pierce Community Cruise night then began at 7:30. Pierce residents were asked to participate by cruising by the parking lot where the seniors were parked at 8:15. The community cruise night ended by the softball and baseball complex.
The lights of the football, softball, and baseball fields all turned on at 8:20, or 20:20 in military time, in recognition of the 2020 senior class. Everyone was then asked to join in watching fireworks at 9:15.
Before the parade, Sophomore Julia Polt said, “I’m really looking forward to watching the fireworks from my house.”
Senior Hannah Magnussen also commented before the parade, “I’m excited we get to do something to celebrate us seniors, as we take a step in our lives. I feel like the seniors will really appreciate all the town and family members that will come to celebrate!”
The class of 2020 will have an official graduation ceremony sometime this summer, as health guidelines permit.
