What Students are Watching During COVID-19

Bored during this Quarantine?

by Kailey Marks

Hello and welcome back to another episode of “How are you doing during Quarantine?” I am your host Kailey Marks, and I will be talking about one movie you just can’t miss.

The movie Greater was made in 2016 and is a little more than two hours long. It’s based on a true story of a remarkable young man and football player named Brandon Burlsworth. Personally, this boy probably has one of the best hearts and best personalities around.

The movie starts out pretty tragic when a tombstone shows up for Brandon, and you just start wondering “What happened?”, “What’s going on?”.

As a boy, Brandon always dreamed of playing big-time college football for the Arkansas Razorbacks and while trying to complete that dream he has to overcome many obstacles, stay strong to his faith, and not let other people get the best of him.

Although the viewer knows he passed away in the beginning, that doesn’t beat getting to know how great of a person this boy was and how passionate he was about proving he was going to play football and go big in the sport.

I’m not going to spoil it all for you, you will just have to watch this heartwarming, tearjerking movie for yourself. Grab your box of tissues, you will sure need it.

All the Bright Places is the Saddest Movie

by Autumn Hanna

Since there is nothing better to do with our time than binge watch all the movies on Netflix, here’s a movie everyone needs to watch. All the Bright Places is a Netflix Original movie that was released this year, 2020.

The movie is about a girl whose sister, Violet Markey, who has passed away and a misfit boy, Theodore Finch, that saves her life. He becomes obsessed with her, and tries to show her how amazing life is, when in reality he’s trying to do the same. This movie has an amazing plot and hits all of your feelings.

The ending to this film had me personally sobbing, and was completely shocked. I won’t spoil anything major about this movie but it is a must watch if you like sad sappy movies like me.

Outer Banks Review

by Elizabeth Hammer

Throughout this break I have watched many movies and shows. However, my favorite one so far is the netflix original, Outer Banks.

This show is about a troublesome group of teenagers on an island. The island is split into two groups, the “kooks” and the “pogues”. The kooks are the rich people on the island and the pogues are the people that are poor and have to work very hard to earn money.

The main character, John B, faces many problems after the disappearance of his father, and his group of friends are always tagging along. So far, there is only one season since the show aired this year. I watched this show in one day. I might have gotten in trouble from my parents, but it was definitely worth it. This show hooks you with mystery, adventure, romance, and comedy. It might seem like a teenage show, but I think some adults might like it as well, but it is not meant for younger audiences due to some situations and scenes.

Overall, without giving away spoilers, Outer Banks is very attention grabbing and is definitely worth your time looking into it.

Grey’s Anatomy Review

By Michaela McWilliams

COVID-19 has not only ruined plans but has also caused most people to stay home for school or work. Although most people look at this as a negative thing, I think of it as a time to catch up and binge-watch shows on Netflix.

My favorite show to binge-watch is Grey’s Anatomy, which is an ABC show that is also aired on Netflix. It is about a surgeon, Meredith Grey, and it shows her overcoming not only professional but also personal challenges. She and her fellow surgeons stick by each other’s side while going through multiple ups and downs and are able to progress in their surgical careers.

The show has a significant number of plot turns and is sure to leave you on the edge of your seat while also playing with your emotions. With fifteen seasons on Netflix, it makes for a great show that will be sure to keep you busy watching for weeks. Grey’s Anatomy will grab your attention and keep you hooked throughout the end of each season.

Grey’s Anatomy is definitely worth the watch.
