Bluejays Win Intense Dual

The Pierce High wrestling team faced off with the Plainview Pirates on Thursday, January 16, at the Auditorium in Pierce and won in a close and intense fight against the pirates with a final score of 37-33.
The Bluejays wrestled a close dual against the Plainview Pirates and finished on top with a score of 37-33.
Starting at 170, Parker Sackville lost by fall to Aliza Mejia. Brett Tinker (182) pinned Lucas Hammer of Plainview. In 195, Travis Jensen lost by pin to Collin Gale. Winning by a pin was Dylan Kuehler over Julio in the 285 weight class. Wrestling at 113, Brock Bolling won over Eli Lanham. Blake Bolling (120) was pinned by Scout Ashburn. In the 126 weight class, Jayden Colter won over Tanner Frahm. Carter Jensen (132) lost to Keagan Mosel by decision. Jeremiah Kruntorad (138) fell to Nate Christensen. At 145, Michael Kruntorad pinned Bode Wortman. Ashton Schweitzer (152) lost by decision to Will Gunning.
In the match that determined the win over the Pirates, was Zander Schweitzer (160) with a pin over Matt Christensen.
Coach Tyler Legate states, “It was exciting, and I thought the boys fought really hard. There were some matches that we didn’t quite finish, so we have some work to do on that this week. Otherwise, I think we did really well and I am proud of all of them.”
The Bluejays take the mat again three days in a row on Thursday in Battle Creek for a triangular at 6 p.m., in Kearney Friday at UNK Duals starting at 9 a.m., and in Plattsmouth on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.
