Winter Royalty Candidates Announced

On Wednesday, January 8, the Pierce High student body voted on king and queen candidates for the annual Winter Royalty dance. The girls selected to be candidates for queen are Addison Johnson, Jade Dickey, Maiya Baumann, Sydney Erickson, and Zoe Brenden. King candidates are Brett Tinker, Carson Oestreich, Dalton Freeman, Dylan Svoboda, and Gavin Larson.

 

Addison Johnson is the daughter of Doug and Stacy Johnson. She has been in the National Honor Society two years, FCA four years, girls letter club four years, and student council two years. She has also been the secretary of her class in her freshman year and the vice president in her junior year. Addison has participated in band one year, cheerleading three years, and softball two years. She has also been on principal’s honor roll four years, on the academic team two years, an academic letter winner three years, and a peer tutor for one year. Addison is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. 

 

Jade Dickey is the daughter of Jeff and Chris Dickey. She has been in girls letter club four years. Jade has also been in band two years, cheerleading four years, and dance two years. She has been on the honor roll four years. Jade is a member of the United Methodist Church in Pierce and United Methodist Church Youth group.

 

Maiya Baumann is the daughter of Jared and Jen Baumann. She has been in the National Honor Society three years, FCA four years, girls letter club four years, and student council six years. She has also been the secretary of girls letter club, class treasurer her freshman year, historian of student council her senior year, and school board representative her junior year. Maiya has participated in band four years, choir four years, speech four years, one act one year, cheerleading four years, volleyball four years, and track four years. She has been been on principal’s honor roll two years, honor roll two years, was a Girls State representative, and a state speech qualifier her sophomore and junior year and placed 6th at state her junior year. Maiya is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce and also has been a part of Hands for Christ for four years. 

 

Sydney Erickson is the daughter of Joel and Heidi Erickson. She has been in the National Honor Society three years, FCCLA five years, and girls letter club four years. She has been the 2016-2017 District FCCLA President, 2017-2018 FCCLA chapter vice president, 2017-2018 FCCLA State Peer Officer Team overall council chairperson and career leader team chairperson, 2018-2019 FCCLA chapter president, 2019-2020 Nebraska FCCLA State President, and National Honor Society president. She is also been in choir four years, speech three years, one act two years, and golf four years. Sydney is a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Pierce. 

 

Zoe Brenden is the daughter of Ryan and Jenifer Brenden. She has been in the National Honor Society three years, student council one year, and girls letter club three years. Zoe has been the president of girls letter club and the class secretary her junior year. She has participated in basketball four years, volleyball four years, track one year, band one year, and cheerleading one year. Zoe has been on the principal’s honor roll four years, on the academic team one year, an academic all-state winner for basketball one year and honorable mention for volleyball one year.  Zoe is a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce. 

 

Brett Tinker is the son of Mike and Kathy Tinker. He has been in the National Honor Society three years, FFA four years, and boys letter club four years. He is currently the FFA vice president for his senior year, he was the FFA reporter his sophomore year, and FFA sentinel for his junior year. Brett has participated in football four years, wrestling four years, track four years, and band for one year. Brett has been on principal’s honor roll for four years, an all-district winner three years for the 1st team in football his sophomore, junior and senior years; an all-state winner 1st team winner in football his junior and senior year; all-state honorable mention his sophomore year; a wrestling state qualifier his sophomore and junior year; wrestling state placer his junior year; and a track state qualifier his junior year. Brett is a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce and is also a Sunday school teacher and an usher at his church.

 

Carson Oestreich is the son of Todd and Carla Oestreich. He has been in the National Honor Society for two years, FFA for one year, student council for four years, and boys letter club for four years. He has been student council president, National Honor Society secretary, student council treasurer, and class treasurer. He has participated in basketball four years, football four years, and track four years. Carson has been on principal’s honor roll for four years, an academic letter winner for four years, on the academic team four years, an all-conference winner for three years, an all-district winner 3 years, and an all-state winner for two years. Carson is a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar and is also a head usher at his church.    

 

Dalton Freeman is the son of Brad and Lisa Freeman. He has been in National Honor Society for three years, FFA three years, student council six years, and boys letter club four years. He was the class treasurer in his sophomore year. Dalton has participated in football four years, basketball four years, track four years, and band one year. He has been on principal’s honor roll four years, an academic letter winner four years, on the academic team two years, all-conference honorable mention two years for basketball, all-district winner for football his sophomore, junior, and senior years; all-state honorable mention for football one year, all-state football two years, all-state honorable mention one year for basketball, academic all-state for football his junior year, basketball his sophomore year, and track his sophomore and junior years. Dalton is a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce and is also an usher. 

 

Dylan Svoboda is the son of Galen and Mary Svoboda. He has been in the National Honor Society for three years, FFA four years, and boys letter club four years. Dylan has participated in football four years, basketball one year, and band for one year. He has been on the principal’s honor roll four years, an all-district winner for the 2nd team in football for his junior year, an all-state winner for the 1st team in football for his senior year, an all-state honorable mention his junior and senior years. Dylan is a member of the St. Joseph’s Church in Pierce and the Y-Disciple Youth Group. 

 

Gavin Larson is the son of Pat and Sonia Ronspies. He has been in National Honor Society three years and boys letter club four years. He has also been the class secretary in his sophomore year. Gavin has participated in basketball four years, football four years, and track four years. He has been on principal’s honor roll four years, an academic letter winner four years, on academic team one year, an all-conference winner for one year for the 1st team in basketball his junior year, all-district winner for two years in football his junior and senior years, all-state honorable mention for two years in football his junior and senior years and in basketball his junior year, all-class for one year in basketball his junior year, and academic all-state for basketball his junior year. Gavin is a member of St. Joseph’s in Pierce, part of the Y-Disciple Youth Group, and was a Sunday school teacher for the 8th graders his junior year. 

  

The king and queen will be crowned prior to the dance on Saturday, January 18 at 7:30 at the Auditorium.
