PHS Student Selected for a State-Wide Art Contest.

Matthew Steffen, a freshman at Pierce High School, was recently chosen to have his artwork featured in the 2020 “Nebraska: Don’t Waste It!” environmental calendar. Steffen is taking art one this semester. He says that he loves art because it gives him the chance to come up with cool ideas and to create something that nobody else has thought of. When asked what was going through his mind when he won, he said, “I was very happy when I got the letter, but I was also like oh crap what did I do?” The first thing Steffen remembers about art is drawing combines and bales in preschool. He also commented that his mom is who inspired him to do art because she gave him the talent.
