Veteran’s Day Program Will Be Here Soon
by Megan Druyor
Every year the community of Pierce celebrates Veteran’s Day with an assembly to honor all the veterans who have either passed away or are still living. On Monday, November 11, all of the students will gather in the gym at 10:00 to honor our veterans. The public is invited to this program as well.
Veteran’s Day helps the students and the teachers remember the soldiers that have fought for and served our country and that everyone should always remember them. Angel Heisinger, a sophomore at Pierce High school said, “Veteran’s Day is for the students to know that the soldiers are never going to leave and that we should be happy for what we have now.”
Chloey Cederburg, a sophomore as well, said that, “Veteran’s Day shows the students to respect everyone. It doesn't matter if they are in the military or not. Everyone should be respected.”
The Pierce Sr. High Choir, directed by Terri Haselhorst, will be singing a song to honor the Veterans called “For the Glory” and then the band that is being directed by Michael Sindt, will be playing two different songs, “Service sets 1 and 2” and “Light Aturnal” with the choir.
Girls State representative, Maiya Baumann and Boys State representative, Caydan Retzlaff will be giving their speeches. The welcome will be given by veteran Rick Sirek, Master of Ceremonies. The avenue of flags will be presented by the Pierce Legion baseball team. Paul Hughes, a veteran himself, will be the guest speaker for the program.
Every year in November the school holds a Veteran’s Day program to remember the past and think of how everything that we have is all because of the soldiers that fought for our country.
