Spooky Day at the Elementary
by Graison Pfeiffer
Thursday, October 31, was a spooktastic day for Pierce Elementary. Their day kicked off with monthly end of the month assembly. At the assembly, the fifth graders played six songs on their recorders, after that Principal Trent Suehl gave out prizes for the second grade independent readers, no late papers for the 4th-6th graders, and both Principal’s Honor Roll and Honor Roll for fifth and sixth graders. Continuing on Suehl named the Super Jay award winners, and finally the kids were led in the drug-free pledge by counselor Denise Bruland. The kids got to wear their costumes all day, so the rooms ranged from princess to clowns and from onesies to foods. The teachers also dressed up as crayons and the elementary principal Mr. Suehl was a crayon box. The kids partied with treats, drinks, and movies.
According to Amy Fleer, a fourth-grade teacher, “Lots of kids said they were happy they could wear their costumes more than just a few hours at night.”
Mary Zimmer, a fifth-grade teacher, had a party with her class that consisted of the whole fifth grade getting together and watching a movie.
Pierce Elementary School students look forward to dressing up in their Halloween costumes every year.
