Sophomore Career day

by Aundrea Huber

On Tuesday, October 15, the sophomores at Pierce High voyaged to Wayne State College to have a career day. The day started off in the gym where there were 1,200 students from multiple different schools. They were given information on how the sophomores days would go and sent them off. The sophomores had three sessions and two breakout sessions.

Makinzie Parsons, a sophomore, said, “These classes benefited me as I usually wouldn’t understand some careers involved within certain areas. This also opened my eyes to many new careers even around our local area.” The students spent the day learning about their careers and getting ideas for other fields of work they may be interested in.

Danielle Goetsch, the school counselor, said, “Career days give students exposure to varying occupations. These days help students learn about the necessary education and skills needed for specific occupations.” She followed up, saying “Being on a campus is beneficial for students because the students get to experience the college atmosphere. They get a sense of how college and high school are different.”
