Cross Country Team Kills the Competition at Mid-State

Pierce High’s cross country team dominated the Mid-State Conference in Crofton on Thursday, October 10. The Pierce varsity boys’ team were the meet champions out of six teams competing with a final score of 27. Again for this meet Pierce only had two varsity girls competing, so they were not able to place as a team.
Individually, Mason Sindelar was the meet champion with a time of 15:50.81. M. Sindelar said, “It was very cold, but we ran the best races of our lives.” Gavin Geneski came in fifth with a time of 17:45.36. Brock Bolling finished in sixth with a time of 17:54.14. B. Bolling says he always reminds himself that “doing the little things makes the big things possible.” Miles Garcia placed 15th with a time of 18:22.60. Colt Arnold came in 16th with a time of 18:30.35. Blake Bolling finished 19th with a time of 18:34.42. Ashton Koch placed 25th with a time of 19:01.57. Carter Jensen came in 28th with a time of 19:08.78. Chris Efta finished 40th with a time of 20:08.08.
Both runners for the Pierce girls finished in the top six individually. Alexus Sindelar was the meet runner-up finishing with a time of 19:14.83. Callie Arnold also placed very well as she came in sixth with a time of 20:58.15. C. Arnold said, “We ran really well for it being as cold as it was, and it was a pretty easy course. It was a fun meet!”
The varsity cross country team will host districts this Thursday, October 17, at the Pierce Community Golf Course.
JH Cross Country Team Battles at Pierce Meet

The junior high cross country team took over at their own meet at the Pierce Community Golf Course on October 9. The Pierce junior high girls placed 4th as a team with a score of 77 points. For this meet, Pierce only had one boy runner competing, so they were not able to place as a team.
For the girls, Aylla Weeder sprinted in 6th with a time of 14:19 and not far behind Zoey Ebmeier placed 8th with a finishing time of 14:25. Kaylee Olson came in 41st with a time of 17:11, and finishing in 57th place with a time of 18:20 was Tatum Koch.
Talking about the race Zoey Ebmeier said, “My goal for this meet was to get into the top 5 basically, so I can do better at state.”
The lone boy runner for Pierce was Eli Streff who took 47th place with a time of 15:14.
Coach Gary Shada commented, “Overall they ran well as they have done all year. Zoey and Aylla went out a little too hard and that affected their finish so they just need more experience so they can find that starting pace that best suits them. ”
The next meet will be state for the junior high cross country runners in Papillion-LaVista on October 12.
