Senior and Junior High Choir Performs
by Angelica Volquardsen
Under the direction of Mrs. Terri Haselhorst and accompanied by Mrs. Celine Fehringer, the junior and senior high choirs performed their final concert in the PHS gym on Tuesday, May 7.
Starting off the concert, the junior high choir performed three songs: “Bonse Aba,” “Your Song,” and “The Middle.” The choir performed dance moves along to the song “In The Middle” and “Mountain Music.”
Performing next was the junior high show choir. They presented two songs: “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Firework.”
Following the junior high show choir was the Pierce Synergy. This group competed earlier in the season at USD, where they placed 6th, and Northeast Community College, where they placed 2nd. For this concert, they performed the songs “A Little Less Conversation,” “Just Give Me A Reason” featuring Rose Graham and Colt Arnold as soloists, “The Lazy Song,” and “You Can’t Stop The Beat” featuring Aiden Pfiel on the bass guitar. After the HS show choir performed, the full high school choir sang their songs, “The Cuckoo” and “Waterfalls.” The girls’ group performed “Come To Shore,” and the boys performed “The Coast Of High Barbary.” The full choir again gathered to perform “Seven Bridges Road” and “You’re Welcome” featuring Seth Valverde and Tanner Kuper as soloists. At the end of the concert, the junior and senior high choir members joined to sing “Sweet Caroline” and also dance to “Mountain Music.”
Choir director Terri Haselhorst said, “The last concert was an accumulation of everything the students worked on throughout the year, and it’s nice to show the growth that both choirs have made to the audience. My favorite part was the final two songs. I really like it when we are able to put the high school and junior high choir together. There is so much potential coming up in younger grades, and I like to see the growth and the confidence that grows in the kids as the years go on.”
