The jazz band group and director Mike Sindt traveled to Gretna after school on Friday, April 26, to compete in the NSBA Jazz Band Competition.
The competition included middle schools, as well as high schools in class AA, class A, and class B. There were four schools in class B, which Pierce competed in. Pierce played three songs, “Don’t Get Sassy,” “Prayer Meetin’,” and “Soul Sister.” Pierce received a superior rating and finished with 2nd place overall.
Band director Mr. Sindt said, “I feel that we had one of the best performances of the year. The band had a good feel in each of our selections, and for most of their performance, the band had a good energy that made it enjoyable to listen to.”
