Speech Team Triumphs at Battle Creek

The speech team traveled to Battle Creek on Saturday, February 16. The varsity team received 1st, and the JV took runner-up in their division.
For the varsity, Janae Arens was 1st in humorous prose. Dylan Delka and Janae Arens were first for duet acting. Katrina Meier, Dylan Delka, Mark Venteicher, Macie Timm, and Janae Arens placed 3rd in OID. Macie Timm was 3rd in entertainment speaking. Katrina Meier was 3rd for extemporaneous speaking. Rose Graham, Emilia Goetsch, Tanner Kuper, Klarissa Norris, and Sydney Erickson were 4th in OID. Klarissa Norris was 4th in informative speaking. Hailey Abler was 4th in persuasive speaking. Mark Venteicher was 4th in extemporaneous speaking. Emilia Goetsch was 5th in entertainment speaking. Caydan Retzlaff was 5th in extemporaneous speaking. Abygail Streff was 6th in extemporaneous speaking. Katrina Meier placed 6th in informative speaking. Also, Janae Arens received 2nd in overall individual sweepstakes and Katrina Meier received 3rd in individual sweepstakes.
For the JV, Katie Vogt was 1st in persuasive speaking. Zachary Price was 1st in poetry. Elijah Jones and Trevor Voecks were 2nd in duet acting. Shawn Zellmer was 2nd in extemporaneous speaking. Aundrea Huber and Madisyn Hamm were 3rd for duet acting. Zachary Price was 3rd in entertainment speaking and 4th in humorous prose. Christopher Efta, Trevor Voecks, Shawn Zellmer, Bridget Raff and Elijah Jones were 7th in OID. Zachary Price received 2nd in the JV division for individual sweepstakes.
The speech team’s next meet will be the Mid-State tournament on Saturday, February 23.
