Pierce Speech Takes Gold at Wayne

The Pierce speech team took the number one place at their meet in Wayne on Saturday, February 2. The all-varsity tournament included a total of 22 schools and over 400 entries.
Individually, taking 1st place were Halle Ross and Kiley Bierman in duet acting and Tanner Kuper in persuasive speaking. Finishing 2nd were Katrina Meier in extemporaneous speaking and the OID group of Macie Timm, Janae Arens, Dylan Delka, Mark Venteicher, and Meier. Taking 3rd place in their events were Venteicher in extemporaneous speaking, Meier in informative speaking, and Elizabeth Harris in serious prose. Placing 4th were Shelby White in informative speaking, Maiya Baumann in humorous prose, and the OID of Halle Ross, Baumann, Zane Gleason, Greta Guercilena, and Caydan Retzlaff. Finishing 5th were Ross in serious prose, Klarissa Norris in informative speaking, and Arens and Delka in duet acting. In 6th place were Arens in humorous prose and Morgan Crist in poetry. Earning 7th place honors was Macie Timm in entertainment speaking. Venteicher (informative speaking) and Crist (serious prose) placed 9th. Finishing in 10th place were Bridget Raff in entertainment speaking and Bierman in extemporaneous speaking. Caydan Retzlaff finished 11th in extemporaneous speaking. Finally, finishing 12th were Emilia Goetsch in entertainment speaking and Abygail Streff in poetry.

The Bluejays will have their next speech competition on Saturday, February 9. They will be attending the invite at Wausa High School.
