Pierce Speech Victorious at Hartington

The Pierce High Bluejay speech team placed 1st at the Hartington speech invite on Saturday, January 26. Pierce’s JV team placed 2nd at this meet, as well.

Individual results for the varsity were as follows. Janae Arens and Dylan Delka placed 1st in duet acting. The duo of Kiley Beierman and Halle Ross placed 3rd in duet acting. Katrina Meier placed 1st in informative speaking and was trailed by Klarissa Norris who placed 2nd and Shelby White who received 4th. Arens also took home 1st in humorous prose followed by Maiya Baumann placing 2nd. Mark Venteicher took home 2nd place in extemporaneous speaking. In serious prose, Elizabeth Harris placed 3rd and was followed by Ross, who placed 4th. Sydney Erickson placed 5th in poetry. Finally, in entertainment speaking, Emilia Goetsch placed 6th.

Individually for the JV team, Hailey Abler placed 1st in persuasive speaking and was accompanied by Katie Vogt placing 4th. Chloey Cederburg took home 1st in informative speaking. In humorous prose, Zach Price placed 3rd. Shawn Zellmer received 4th in extemporaneous speaking. The duo of Trevor Voecks and Eli Jones placed 3rd in duet acting and were followed closely behind by Madisyn Hamm and Aundrea Huber, who placed 4th. Finally, the group of Bridget Raff, Chris Efta, Trevor Voecks, Shawn Zellmer, and Eli Jones placed 2nd in OID.

The Bluejays will have their next competitions on Saturday, February 2. The JV team will be attending the Guardian Angel Cedar Catholic Invite, while the varsity team will be headed to the Wayne Invite.
