Speech Team Picks Up 2nd Place

The Pierce speech team traveled to Boone Central High School on Saturday, January 19. The varsity placed 2nd out of the nine schools present, and the novice team placed 4th.
For the varsity team, in informative speaking, Katrina Meier took 1st place while also securing 4th place extemporaneous speaking. Mark Venticher took 6th place in informative speaking. In duet acting, the team of Kiley Bierman and Halle Ross took 1st. In humorous prose, Maiya Baumann placed 2nd. In entertainment speaking, Bridgett Raff placed 3rd. The group of Zane Gleason, Greta Guercilena, Cayden Retzlaff, and Halle Ross placed 4th in OID. Sydney Erickson placed 4th in poetry along with Abygail Streff, who placed 6th. Halle Ross placed 4th in serious prose, along with Elizabeth Harris, who placed 6th. Shelby White placed 4th in persuasive speaking.
In the novice division, Chloey Cederburg placed in 1st in informative speaking. Hailey Abler placed 2nd in persuasive speaking. Zach Price placed 4th in entertainment speaking and 6th in humorous prose. The duo of Madison Hamm and Aundrea Huber took 6th in duet acting, Finally, Shawn Zellmer placed 5th in extemporaneous speaking.
The Pierce High speech team will compete next on Saturday, January 26, at Hartington-Newcastle.
