Bluejay Speakers Swoop up 2nd at Pierce Invite

The Pierce High varsity speech team placed 2nd at their first meet of the year while the JV team finished 5th at the home of the Bluejays on Saturday, January 12.
The varsity Bluejays finished 2nd of 21 schools at the Pierce invite on the 12th. In duet acting, the duo of Janae Arens and Dylan Delka took 1st place. Right behind them was the pair of Kiley Bierman and Halle Ross, who placed 2nd. In informative speaking, Katrina Meier placed 1st while Klarissa Norris took 3rd. Janae Arens placed 3rd in humorous prose and was followed by Maiya Baumann, who placed 4th. Placing 3rd in persuasive speaking was Shelby White. In poetry, Sydney Erickson took 4th place. The group of Katrina Meier, Mark Venteicher, Janae Arens, Macie Timm, and Dylan Delka placed 5th in OID. Finally, Mark Venteicher secured 6th place in extemporaneous speaking.
In the junior varsity division, Abygail Streff placed 1st in extemporaneous speaking and 2nd in poetry. The group of Bridget Raff, Elijah Jones, Christopher Efta, Trevor Voecks, and Shawn Zellmer took home 3rd place in OID. In entertainment, Bridget Raff also placed 4th and was followed closely by Zach Price who placed 5th. Price also secured 6th place in humorous. Finally, the pair of Madisyn Hamm and Aundrea Huber took home 6th in duet acting.
The Pierce High speech team will compete at Boone Central this Saturday, January 19.
