Wrestling Team Competes in Pierce

The Pierce wrestling team opened their season in a home triangular Tuesday, December 4, where they beat Crofton-Bloomfield 78-6 and lost to Bon Homme 34-43.

In the dual with Bon Homme, individual results were as follows. At 145, Michael Kruntorad pinned Skyler Knahkmus. At 152, Ashton Schweitzer lost by decision 9-8. At 160, Nelson Emerson pinned Marlon Husmann. Brett Tinker, at 170, pinned Stocken Walter. In the 182 weight class, Travis Jensen was pinned by Jordan Gall. Dylan Kuehler, at 195, was pinned by Josh Crownover. At 220, Ryder Fuchs pinned Turner Nicholson. At 285, Jacob Kerber was pinned by Micah Deboer. Winning by major decision 9-1, Brock Bolling beat Brady Bierema at 106. At 113 pounds, Isaiah Adams lost by major decision 10-2 to Tyrus Bietz. At 120, Devin Graae got pinned Isaac Crownover. Ethan Dohmen got pinned by Dawson Beitz at 126. Carter Jensen, at 132, got pinned by Jordan Rueb. Jeremiah Kruntorad, at 138, pinned Landon Smith. There were also three exhibition matches wrestled. Mason Sedlacek won by decision 6-4 over Cayden Himes. Jaden Jones was pinned by Dj Rueb. Nick Erickson pinned Max Mach.

Against Crofton-Bloomfield, Brett Tinker started off the Bluejay matches by pinning Hunter Hegge. At 182, Travis Jensen was pinned by Yuset Arellanes. Dylan Kuehler, at 195, pinned Calvin Dather. Jacob Kerber pinned Jared Janssen at 285. At 106, Brock Bolling pinned Hudson Barger. At 138, Jeremiah Kruntorad pinned William Poppe. Ashton Schweitzer pinned Tyson Sauser at 145. Tim Windheuser, Ryder Fuchs, Isaiah Adams, Devin Graae, Ethan Dohmen, Carter Jensen, and Nelson Emerson also scored a total of 42 points for the team as they took filled Crofton-Bloomfield’s open weights.

Coach Tyler Legate was pleased with the team’s first performance of the season but looks forward to improving. He said, “Each guy has something to work on the rest of the week. We will get the mistakes corrected and continue to work on getting better. We wrestled well and worked hard in our matches. I look forward to what this team can accomplish this year. An upcoming challenge will be to get our lungs in better shape. We need to work hard the rest of the week so we can have a good showing at North Bend.”

The next wrestling meet will be Saturday, December 15, in Osmond.
