The Jays fought back in the second quarter, holding the Jaguars to 11 points while putting up 18. Larson drained another three along with a pair of free throws, and Watts added a bucket to the Jays’ total. Senior Jadon Magdanz put up a two-point shot to aid the Jays’ efforts, and Carson Oestreich hit a two-pointer and a free throw. Freeman had a shot from behind the arc and a two-pointer, and Carter Rohrich topped off the Jays’ second-quarter scoring with a free throw. Going into halftime, the Jays had the lead 30-27.

The Jays went point-for-point with the Jaguars in the fourth points from Larson, Watts, Oestreich, and Freeman, but they were unable to snatch the lead and fell 51-59.

Coach Mike Emory said, “After not getting off to a good start, I thought we played well in the second quarter. I think that getting into the flow offensively is something we need to work on, and defensively, we need to be able to guard the ball better and rebound better.” Looking ahead to their next game, Emory said, “Boone Central is a big physical team and we are going to have to match their physicality for that game.”

The next varsity boys’ basketball game will be Friday, December 7, at Boone Central.
