JH Wrestles for Runner-Up

The junior high wrestling team traveled to Battle Creek on Tuesday, November 27, and came back with a 2nd place plaque as a team with a team score of 169.5 points.

Individually, at 86 pounds, Zakary Abler had a record of 1-2  and Cameron Armitage had record of 3-2. At 94, Jayden Coulter placed 1st with a record 3-0. Zach Meier, at 101, had a record of 1-2. At 108, Karter Wolfe went 0-2. Placing 4th was Colbey Jensen, who went 3-2  at 120. At 125, Blake Bolling received 3rd, going 2-1. Ashton Koch wrestled at 130 and received 2nd place with a record of 3-1. Camden Jansen went 2-1 at 135. With a 1st place medal at 145, Zander Schweitzer was 4-0. At 170, Tristan Kuehler went 0-2, and Parker Sackville placed 1st going 3-0. Richard Halligan placed 3rd at 190 with a record of 3-1. In the heavyweight class was Tavin Koehler, who got 2nd place with a record of 2-1.

Coach Gary Shada said, “Overall I was very pleased the way we competed. It’s the first time the team has ever taken home a placement [from Battle Creek], and they placed 2nd, which everybody contributed to. We knew the level of competition was going to be the best all year, and everybody stepped up to the competitive level.”

The next junior high wrestling meet will be Saturday, December 8, at Boone Central.
