JH Wrestles at Elkhorn Valley

Pierce’s junior high wrestlers went to Tilden to participate in a wrestling tournament on Monday, November 19.

For individual records, Zakary Abler went 2-1, Zach Meier went 0-2, Karter Wolfe went 0-3, and Cameron Armitage went 1-1. Going undefeated for the day, Tristan Kuehler went 1-0, Parker Sackville went 1-0, Blake Bolling wet 2-0, Jayden Coulter went 2-0, Colbey Jensen 3-0, and Camden Jansen went 1-0.

The junior high’s next meet will be on Saturday, December 8, at Boone Central.


JH Wrestling Takes 1st at Plainview

The junior high wrestling team traveled to Plainview Thursday, November 15, where they placed 1st with a team score of 134.

Individual results were as follows: At 83 pounds, Zakary Abler went 2-1. Weighing in at 88 pounds, Cameron Armitage went 1-2. Jayden Coulter placed 1st at 93 pounds, going 3-0. Zach Meier, weighing in at 98 pounds, went 1-2. Carter Wolfe, weighing in at 104 pounds, went 1-2. Placing 4th and weighing in at 116 pounds, Colbey Jensen went 3-1. Placing 2nd and weighing in at 122 pounds, Blake Bolling went 2-1. Weighing in at 128 pounds and placing 2nd, Ashton Koch went 2-1. Placing 2nd and weighing in at 145 pounds, Zander Schweitzer went 3-1. Also placing 2nd at heavyweight, Tavin Koehler went 2-1. Weighing in at 155 pounds, Tristan Koehler went 0-2. Placing 3rd at 165 pounds, Parker Sackville went 3-1. Also placing 3rd at 185 pounds, Richard Halligan went 3-1.

Coach Gary Shada said, “Individually, we had some wrestlers that stepped up to the level of competition that they need to be at consistently to get to the next level, but we also has some boys that need to get to that level yet. As a team, we performed quite well.  Every wrestler that competed won at least one match, and every point was needed for the team to win the tournament.”

The next junior high wrestling meet will be Tuesday, November 27, at Battle Creek.


JH Wrestling Travels to Howell-Dodge

The junior high wrestling team went to Howells-Dodge to take on Norfolk Catholic and Howells-Doge in a triangular Monday, November 12.

Individually, Camden Jansen had a match record after the triangular of 0-2. Cameron Armitage and Tristan Koehler both had a match record of 0-1. Zach Meier, Parker Sackville, and Zakary Abler each had a record of 1-1. Jayden Coulter  won all of his matches with a record of 3-0. Blake Bolling, Zander Schweitzer, Ashton Koch, Richard Halligan, and Tavin Koehler all had a match record of 2-0.

Commented by Coach Gary Shada, “We weren’t as aggressive as I would have liked to see, but they were able to fight through it and win a lot of matches. Overall, I was pleased with the team's performance.”

The next match for the JH wrestling team is Tuesday, November 27, in Battle Creek.


JH Wrestling Travels to Madison

The JH wrestling team competed in Madison Thursday, November 8.

For individual results, Tavin Koehler and Jayden Coulter both went 3-0 and got 1st place. Coming in 2nd, Richard Halligan went 1-1 and Tristan Koehler went 1-1; Zander Schweitzer, Blake Bolling, and Zach Meier went 2-1. Parker Sackville went 1-2. Camden Jansen and Cameron Armitage went 0-3, and Zakary Abler went 0-2.
