Pierce High Marches On

by Angelica Volquardsen

The Pierce High marching band competed in a parade march and field competition on Saturday, October 13 in Yankton, South Dakota. Pierce received 2nd in parade march and 2nd in field competition in class 2 division.

The Bluejays marched along with 11 other bands during the parade portion of Saturday's event. Pierce received 2nd place out of all 11 bands. Later Saturday the Bluejays competed in field march competition. There were nine other bands in the class 2 division, Pierce received 2nd place.

Band director Michael Sindt said, “Considering we didn’t get outside as much for practice last week they were able to maintain their level of quality from the previous week. Marching on the bridge was very cool, along with getting to see different schools march and play from all over and different states. The drum-off was also cool to watch.”

The band’s next performance is the State Marching competition in Kearney on Saturday, October 20.
