Lady Jays Win Against South Sioux

Pierce’s Lady Jays softball team traveled to South Sioux City and came back with an 18-6 win against the Cardinals on Saturday, September 15.

In the first inning the Pierce Lady Jays scored two runs, and Sioux City was left with zero. Into the second inning the Lady Jays scored two runs , and Sioux City got on the board with one run. Lady Jays in the third had six runs and left Sioux City with zero. In the fourth inning Pierce scored two points and allowed the Cardinals three. In the last inning Pierce scored six runs for the win, and the Cardinals, two runs.

Individual stats for batting for Pierce included senior Kiley Bierman and senior Brianna Aguilera with four RBI apiece. With two RBI were sophomore Elizabeth Hammer and junior Kaycie Druyor. Junior Angelica Volquardsen had one RBI for the game. Pitching for the Lady Jays senior Kaylee Dvorak threw five strikeouts. Kiley Bierman had five putouts, and senior Rose Graham had four putouts.

“With heat being a factor, the girls did a really great job of getting in and out of defense quickly. We discussed before the game that we couldn't allow big innings because the heat would be a big issue. The girls did a great job defensively,” said by Coach VonSeggern.

Next game for the Lady Jays is Saturday, September 22 at Central City.
