Bluejays Play Blue-White Scrimmage
by Kenzie Moeller
The traditional Pierce football blue-white scrimmage was held on Friday, August 17, at PHS, where the defensive team defeated the offensive team 48-28.
The blue-white scrimmage is used to see all of the players in a game-like experience. The coaches played a total of eight series in which the varsity ran half of the plays and the freshman and sophmores ran the other half. Highlights of the game included Carson Oestreich’s 75-yard touchdown, Dylan Delka’s two touchdowns, and Jeremiah Kruntorad’s 46-yard touchdown.
Coach Mark Brahmer said, “We were quite pleased with the overall play of our first unit. We also had some outstanding individual efforts from the top unit down to our young guys. Our second, third, and fourth units struggled at times, so we’ve got to get some kinks worked out with them. In the end, we were pleased to get through the scrimmage without any injuries.”
The Bluejays’ first regular season game will be Friday, August 24, at Pierce at 7:00 p.m. against rivals Norfolk Catholic.
