Speech Team Holds Community Showcase

The speech team held their annual showcase Thursday, March 8, at Pierce High School. This is held to showcase all the speech competitors and recognize their talents this year.

The night started off with duet, informative, humorous, and poetry at 5:30. Performing for duet were Janae Arens and Dylan Delka, Halle Ross and Kiley Bierman, Rose Graham and Elizabeth Harris, and Peter Halsey and Trevor Zellmer. Performing in informative were Tanner Kuper, Abigail White, Mark Venteicher, Sydney Erickson, Jessica Elsberry and Klarissa Norris. Performing in poetry were Abygail Streff and Chloe Davies. Performing in humorous were Maiya Baumann, Emilia Goetsch, Peter Halsey, Kaleb Zamora, and Janae Arens.

The next round of performances was at 6:30 and included serious, OID, persuasive, and entertainment. Performing in serious were Halle Ross, Rose Graham, and Elizabeth Harris. Performing in OID were the group of Abigail White, Jaden Gleason, Dylan Delka, Janae Arens, and Macie Timm and the group of Halle Ross, Emilia Goetsch, Maiya Baumann, Caydan Retzlaff and Alex Mckeown. In persuasive, Katrina Meier, Alex McKeown, Caydan Retzlaff, Shelby White, and Grace Spieker performed. In entertainment, Dylan Delka, Dalton Delka, Macie Timm, Katrina Meier, and Grace Spieker performed.

The finale was a round of improv duet organized by seniors Abigail White and Grace Spieker. The pairs performing in improv duet were Trevor Zellmer and Alex Mckeown, Dylan Delka and Jaden Gleason, Janae Arens and Macie Timm, Matthew Williams and Mark Venteicher, and Kaleb Zamora and Katrina Meier.

Throughout the night there were refreshments and desserts provided by members of the team. Coach Melissa Legate said, “It was great to see the team come together, have fun with their performances, and showcase the talent that has helped them have a solid season. I also want to thank all the people who attended, especially parents who also helped out and have been traveling to support us all season.”
The speech team’s next competition was districts on Wednesday, March 14.
