FCCLA Attends Peer Ed Retreat

by Rose Graham

Pierce’s FCCLA chapter traveled down to Kearney Sunday, February 25, for the Peer Ed retreat. The original conference started Monday, February 26, with the opening session.

The FCCLA members who attended were Victoria Orona, Alexis Schnoor, Alex Clausen, Mason Sindelar, Lucas Gnat, and Mackenzie Richmond. The theme for the conference was “Spinning Your Way into FCCLA.” Sunday night started off with a game of FCCLA Knowledge Survivor against the other chapters. The game was led by Pierce’s own Sydney Erickson and the rest of the State SPOT team. Monday, there was a keynote speaker, along with many break-out sessions. Kim Barrett was the keynote speaker, and she spoke about stress and well being. Some of the break-out sessions were called “Money Talks,” “Is the F’ Word (failure) Really That Bad?” and “Spin Your Way Into Peer Education.” The day ended with a closing session.

“The SPOT team did a fantastic job with break out sessions,” said FCCLA advisor Angie Brodersen. “Our chapter was very positive on the information they got from it. It was a great representation of what FCCLA stands for.”
