The Bluejay speech team traveled to Battle Creek on Saturday, February 24, to compete in the Mid-State speech meet. The team took home 3rd place overall.

Making the All-Conference team, Janae Arens and Dylan Delka placed 1st in Duet Acting. Other medalists for the Bluejays were as follows: Abigail White received 2nd in Informative. Competitors who placed 3rd were White, Delka, Jaden Gleason, Arens, and Macie Timm in their OID; Katrina Meier in Extemporaneous; and Timm in Entertainment. Halle Ross took 4th place in Serious Prose for the team, and Elizabeth Harris got 5th place in Serious Prose. Placing 6th were Maiya Baumann in Humorous Prose and Sydney Erickson in Informative.

The speech team members’ next performances will be during a community showcase at the high school that is open to the public on Thursday, March 8, at 5:30p.m. The whole team will be performing their pieces from the season. There will be refreshments afterwards, so it is encouraged that everybody comes and supports the speech team before they compete in districts in Hartington on Wednesday, March 14.
