Bluejay Speech Team Tops Competitors at Battle Creek

The speech team traveled to Battle Creek to compete on Saturday, February 17. The varsity team took home the gold, and the JV team placed 4th place overall.
For the varsity team, those competitors who placed 2nd in their events included Halle Ross and Kiley Bierman in Duet Acting and Abigail White in Informative. Competitors who received 3rd place were Sydney Erickson in Informative and Mark Venteicher in Extemporaneous. Fourth place recipients were Dylan Delka in Entertainment and Katrina Meier in Extemporaneous. Those who placed 5th were Klarissa Norris in Informative, Grace Spieker in Persuasive, and Trevor Zellmer in Extemporaneous. In 6th place were Alex McKeown in Extemporaneous and Jaden Gleason, White, Dylan Delka, Janae Arens, and Macie Timm in OID. Abygail Streff was a finalist in Poetry. Dylan Delka also received 2nd overall in individual sweepstakes.
On the JV team, Streff placed 1st in Extemporaneous, Shelby White placed 2nd in Persuasive, Kaleb Zamora received 4th in Humorous, Venteicher got 5th in Informative, and Dalton Delka received 6th in Entertainment.
The speech team’s next competition will be the Mid-State meet in Battle Creek on Saturday, February 24.
