Bluejays Place 4th at Conference Wrestling

The Bluejay wrestling team hit the road to compete in Norfolk at the Mid-State Conference wrestling meet on Saturday, February 3, where the varsity team took home 4th place.
Placing at the Mid-State Tournament were Cody Yawn (1st), Ryder Fuchs (1st), Jeremiah Kruntorad (2nd), Mason Sedlacek (3rd), Brett Tinker (3rd), Dylan Kuehler (4th), Cole Cheney (4th), Nelson Emerson (4th), and Devin Graae (4th).
Individually, Yawn went undefeated at 132 going 3-0, as well as Fuchs at 195 going 2-0. At 106, Graae went 1-2. At 113, Sedlacek went 2-1, and Ethan Dohmen went 1-2. At 120, Kruntorad went 3-1, and Jayden Sporleder went 0-2. At 138, Jaden Jones went 0-2. Also, at 138, Zane Gleason went 0-2. At 145, Tinker went 4-1. At 152, Emerson went 2-2. At 160, Travis Jensen went 0-2. At 182- Cheney went 1-2. At 220, Kuehler went 2-2.
Commenting on what he took away from the weekend, head coach Tyler Legate said, “We need to keep working hard, and we will peak at districts and state.”
The Jays’ next competition will be in the district tournament on Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10, in Malcolm.
Pierce Bluejays wrestling team traveled to Pender for wrestling duel.

The Bluejay wrestling team traveled to Pender Friday, February 2, to compete in the Pender Dual Tournament. Pierce defeated Niobrara/Verdigre 51-24, Ponca 66-18, Pender 48-34, and Winnebago 66-12. They lost to Oakland-Craig 29-48.
Winning matches for the Jays in the dual tournament were Jeremiah Kruntorad, Cody Yawn, Bret Tinker, Mason Sedlacek, Ryder Fuchs, Nelson Emerson, Cole Cheney, Dylan Kuehler.
The Bluejays’ next tournament will be at districts Friday, February 9, and Saturday, February 10, in Malcolm.
