by Annie Johnson
New members were inducted into Pierce High’s National Honor Society on Friday, January 26. Every year, students who qualify and apply are selected by a panel of teachers on the basis of character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
Sophomores being inducted included Maiya Baumann, Zoe Brenden, Sydney Erickson, Dalton Freeman, Gavin Larson, Carter Rohrich, Dylan Svoboda, and Brett Tinker.
Juniors being inducted were Dylan Delka, Abbey Fuerhoff, Isaac Lambrecht, Jacob Pederson, Kayla Simmons, and Marie Stone.
Seniors being inducted were Ian Fisher and Carly Sutherland.
During induction, Grace Spieker, president, welcomed guests, veteran members, and new inductees before introducing each new member to have their candle lit by a current member of National Honor Society. Members then recited the National Honor Society pledge and received a certificate of membership from the club’s sponsor, Tom Edmisten. Speeches were given by Bennett Hoffmann, Annie Johnson, Abigail White, and Maci Kroupa over the four pillars of National Honor Society: scholarship, character, service, leadership; respectively.
