The Pierce FCCLA chapter competed at the District STAR Competition at WSC on Wednesday, January 17. All four of the competitors--Alexus Sindelar, Alexis Schnoor, Abigail Anderson, and Caitlyn Crist--qualified to go to state competition in the spring.
STAR, or Students Taking Action for Recognition, involved competitors from all over District 8. In order to qualify for state, they had to place within the top two in the district. Alexus Sindelar qualified in NE Health and Wellness, Jr. Division. Alexis Schnoor qualified in Parliamentary Procedures, Jr. Division. Abigail Anderson and Caitlyn Crist qualified in Chapter Service Project Display, Sr. Division. The girls will go on to the state FCCLA conference in April to compete for a spot at Nationals.
“Overall, our FCCLA members competed exceptionally well,” said FCCLA advisor Angie Brodersen. “State FCCLA is a great time for chapters around the state to meet and share ideas about how FCCLA can impact not only our schools, but our communities as well.”
