Students Nominate Winter Royalty Candidates

Students of Pierce High selected candidates for Winter Royalty. For girls, Amber Albrecht, Brianna Furstenau, Annie Johnson, Carly Sutherland, and Sidney Zimmerer were voted as the queen candidates. For boys, Taylor Oestreich, Dysen Roth, Braydan Waldner, Ashton Wragge, and Cody Yawn were chosen as the king candidates.

Amber Albrecht is the daughter of Steve and Penny Albrecht. She has been in FFA for five years. She was FFA president for one year, vice-president of FFA one year, and FFA historian for one year. Amber has been in band for four years and golf for four years. She has been on principal’s honor roll four years and has earned three academic letters. Amber has earned academic all-state for golf two years. Amber is a member of the United Church of Christ.

Taylor Oestreich is the son of Brett and Tara Oestreich. He has been in National Honor Society for three years, student council for four years, Boys Letter Club for four years, and FCA for four years. Taylor was class president both freshman and sophomore year, and he is class vice-president his senior year. He has been in basketball four years, golf four years, football one year, and journalism for one year. Taylor has been on the academic team for four years and principal’s honor roll for four years, has been a peer tutor for one year, and has earned four academic letters. He has received academic all-conference in basketball one year and received academic all-state in both journalism and basketball one year. Taylor is a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Brianna Furstenau is the daughter of Cathy and Kevin Furstenau. She has been in National Honor Society for three years, FCA for four years, Girls Letter Club for three years, and FCCLA for two years. Brianna has been in choir for four years and cheerleading for four years. She has earned four academic letters, been on honor roll for two years, and been on principal’s honor roll two years. Brianna is a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Dysen Roth is the son of Tyler and Stefanie Roth. He has been in National Honor Society for two years, student council for two years, Boys Letter Club four years, and Y-Disciple for four years. He has been in basketball for two years, golf for four years, and football for four years. Dysen has been on honor roll for four years. Dysen is a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church.

Annie Johnson is the daughter of Doug and Stacy Johnson. She has been in National Honor Society for three years, FCA for four years, student council for one year, and Girls Letter Club four years. She was class president her junior year and class secretary her sophomore year. Annie was in band one year, basketball one year, track three years, journalism two years, cheerleading three years, and softball four years. She has been on the academic team for one year and all-conference for softball two years. Annie has also earned academic all-state for three years and all-conference honorable mention for one year. She earned an academic letter four years, has been a peer tutor for one year, and has been on principal’s honor roll for three years. Annie is a member of Zion Lutheran church.

Braydan Waldner is the son of Tim and Peg Waldner. He has been involved in FCA for three years, Y-Disciple for one year, and Boys Letter Club for four years. Braydan has been in basketball for four years, track for four years, and football for one year. He has earned honor roll for four years, all-conference basketball his sophomore and junior year, and all-state honorable mention for basketball his sophomore and junior years. He has qualified for the state track meet two years. Braydan is a member of Saint Joseph's Catholic church.

Carly Sutherland is the daughter of Dan and Robin Sutherland. She has been on student council for three years, FCA for one year, Girls Letter Club for four years, and youth group one year. Carly has been Girls Letter Club president for one year, vice-president of student council for one year, and class treasurer her junior year. She has been in basketball for four years, track for four years, and volleyball for four years. Carly has earned two academic letters, been on honor roll for one year, and earned principal’s honor roll for three years. She has received all-conference for two years and all-state honorable mention two years. Carly has received Class C all-area honorable mention her junior year and was first-team Class C Elite Eight her junior year. Carly is a member of the United Methodist Church.

Ashton Wragge is the son of Jeff Wragge and Angie Emerson. Ashton has been involved in FFA for four years, and he has been in Boys Letter Club for four years. Ashton has been involved in basketball for one year and football for four years. Ashton was on all-state second team for football his senior year.

Sidney Zimmerer is the daughter of Judy Zimmerer and Dennis Zimmerer. She has been in FFA for one year, FCA for one year, Y-Disciple for two years, National Honor society for two years, Girls Letter Club for four years, and student council for four years. Sidney was the junior class vice-president, student council treasurer her junior year, and student council secretary her senior year. She was in track for two years, basketball for four years, and volleyball for four years. Sidney has received an academic letter two years, been on principal’s honor roll four years, was on academic all-state for basketball her junior year, and received all-conference honorable mention for volleyball for one year. Sidney is a member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic church.

Cody Yawn is the son of DeeDee Yawn and Greg Unger. Cody has been in track for four years, football for four years, and wrestling for four years. He placed 4th at state wrestling his sophomore year and is a three-time qualifier for the state wrestling meet. Cody is a member of Zion Lutheran church.

Winter Royalty king and queen will be announced Saturday, January 13. Coronation will be followed by a dance for students in grades 9-12. Winter Royalty is put on by members of the student council.
