FFA Drives to Save Lives

by Morgan Crist

The Pierce FFA sponsored their annual blood drive at Pierce High School on Tuesday, December 5, as part of their community service. Also helping with this event were the Pierce FCCLA members.

The day began with FFA members helping to unload equipment from the trucks and set up before the drive started. FFA members stayed throughout the drive to check donors in and make sure people were moving to their stations. The FCCLA group brought snacks to give to donors afterward to replenish before heading back to class or work.

This year, thanks to donations from many Pierce staff, students, and community members, the FFA exceeded their donation goal of 58 units by collecting 60. FFA sponsor Matthew Neal said he thought the biggest takeaway from the day was, “How the community came out for it. The goal was exceeded by a few units of blood. I think the members should see the importance of community service in FFA.”
