FCCLA Celebrates Holiday Festivities
by Morgan Crist
The members of Pierce High’s FCCLA took part in Pierce’s community Memory Tree ceremony downtown during the Parade of Lights on Friday, December 1. The group followed the ceremony with their annual Christmas party at the school.
For the memory tree ceremony, FCCLA members spent several weeks collecting ornaments from community members with the names of lost loved ones written on them to hang on the two trees. Then a ceremony was held to light the tree while the names of lost ones were read off.
The majority of the FCCLA members then attended their Christmas party. The day consisted of a holiday meal, a gift exchange, and various games.
FCCLA sponsor Angie Brodersen said of the ceremonies, “It was a neat tradition for the Pierce community, and my greatest hope was that families involved in the community event were offered comfort during this time of year.”
