Bluejays Shake a Tail Feather at District One-Act

The Pierce High one-act cast, crew, and directors took on districts at Central Community College in Columbus on Friday, December 1. The group were district B-4 champions and will now advance to the state competition.
Pierce High performed the play The Beggar’s Opera. They performed against plays from Columbus Scotus, Wayne, Madison, Columbus Lakeview, O’Neill, Norfolk Catholic, and Boone Central.
Individual acting awards were given to Jaden Gleason, Cody Fuchs, Matthew Williams, Holli Hoctor, Janae Arens, Peter Halsey, Macie Timm, Caydan Retzlaff, Halle Ross, and Emilia Goetsch for their district performances.
One-act director Danielle Goetsch said of her hopes for their state performance, “We want to continue to improve our scores and have our best performance.”
The one-actors’ next competition will be state, which is held at the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk on Friday, December 8.
