JH Wrestlers Compete in Plainview Meet

The junior high Bluejay wrestlers headed to Plainview for a meet on Thursday, November 16. Overall as a team, the Jays placed 5th with 100 points.
In the 83-pound weight class, Jayden Coulter placed 1st by going 3-0 on the day. Also placing 1st was Brock Bolling in the 93-pound weight class. He went 3-0 on the day. Michael Kruntorad also placed 1st by going 3-0 in the 128-pound weight class. Placing 2nd at 165 and going 2-1 was Richard Halligan. Ren Gleason placed 3rd at 183 after going 3-1 for the tournament. Placing 4th in the 83-pound weight class was Cameron Armitage, who went 2-2. Isaiah Adams also placed 4th by going 3-2 in the 98-pound weight class.
Also competing for the Jays were Karter Wolfe who went 1-2 at 93, Blake Bolling who went 1-2 at 122, Braedy Grosshuesch who went 2-2 at 135, Colton Fritz who went 2-2 at 135, Max Cooper who went 0-2 at 155, Nikolas Harvey who went 1-2 at 155, and Nicholas Erickson who went 1-2 at 185.
”Overall, I was happy with how all of the wrestlers competed,” coach Gary Shada said. “When we were able to get our opponents to their back, we were able to finish the match with a pin. We need to finish take downs after taking good shots and we need to work on our body position when we are on the mat.”
The junior high wrestlers’ next meet is the Battle Creek invite on Tuesday, November 28.
