Pierce High’s choir and director Mrs. Terri Haselhorst traveled to Battle Creek on Monday, November 6. There were over 300 students there and eight schools, as well.
All day, the students sang and rehearsed their songs for the concert held later that night. The clinician from Peru, Matt Hill, worked with the singers throughout the day learning and singing music.
The day culminated in a concert that began at 5:00 and featured the mass choir made up of all the choirs from the Mid-State conference. Along with the mass choir, each school also performed their own individual song. Pierce High performed “The Crawdad Song.”
Choir students enjoyed the experience, and one choir member, freshman Kailey Marks, said, “I enjoyed working the the clinician; he kept us motivated.” Senior singer Brianna Furstenau added, “I liked the opportunity to meet new people and sing with them, and to hear the bigger sound with the bigger choir.”
Choir director Mrs. Haselhorst also found the experience beneficial, saying, “I liked being able to sing with many other schools and collaborate.”
