JH Wrestlers Compete at Wayne

by Angelica Volquardsen

The junior high wrestlers traveled to Wayne on Saturday, November 4. Seven teams competed overall, and Pierce took home 4th place with 145 team points, finishing just one point behind the 3rd place team.

For Pierce’s individual results, Pierce had six champions, including Jayden Coulter at 88 pounds, Brock Bolling at 93 pounds, Isaiah Adams at 98 pounds, Michael Kruntorad at 128 pounds, Braedy Grosshuesch at 132 pounds, and Ren Gleason at 185 pounds.

Placing 2nd was Max Cooper at 155, and finishing 3rd was Cameron Armitage at 83. Earning 4th place were Karter Wolfe at 93, Richard Halligan at 165, and Nick Erickson at 185.

Blake Bolling went 1-2 for the day, and Nik Harvey was 0-2.

Coach Gary Shada said, “The most impressive thing about the team’s performance is, Pierce only had 13 wrestlers in the tournament, but the team that was 3rd had 48 wrestlers in it and the team that was 2nd had 38, and every wrestler scored, so for Pierce to be only one point out of 3rd and 10 points out of 2nd was impressive.”
