Band Finishes a ‘Superior’ Season at State
In their final marching contest of the 2017 season, the Pride of the Bluejays competed in the Nebraska State Bandmasters Association contest in Kearney on Saturday, October 21, where they earned a Division I Superior rating.
Under the direction of Mr. Mike Sindt, Pierce was one of 21 bands to perform at the Kearney site (the NSBA also held competitions in Omaha and Lincoln). Once again, they performed their show consisting of three Paul Simon songs. In addition to the whole band’s performance, the day also showcased the PHS drumline, who earned a superior, as well.
This wrapped up the marching band’s 2017 competition season, during which they received straight superior ratings.
While marching band season may be over, there is still much more to come from Pierce’s concert and jazz bands. They will perform next at the annual Christmas band and choir concert, which will be held at the high school on Thursday, December 14.
