Erickson Speaks at District 5 FCCLA Conference
As part of her duties as a State Peer Education Officer in FCCLA, PHS sophomore Sydney Erickson was featured as a speaker at the District 5 Leadership Conference in Columbus.
Erickson’s presentation was an informative session on identity theft and fraud. She spoke to FCCLA members about how identity theft can affect people and how to prevent it from happening. Her presentation included information, as well as some fun features like games for the attendees.
Erickson is on the Financial Fitness team as a state officer, which is what led her to present on identity theft and fraud, as part of being financially fit is protecting what you earn, and she finds it important to teach others how to be safe with their money and identity.
Erickson said, “Presenting was a lot of fun. I hope while I was there they were able to gain something from my presentation and learn more about identity theft and how to protect themselves from it. Overall, it was an awesome day.”
Erickson’s state officer duties also include presentations at other districts to which she has been assigned, including Pierce’s District 8. She presented her session again at the District 8 Leadership Conference on Wednesday, October 25, in Norfolk.
