Golfers Place 8th at State Meet

The Pierce Lady Jays’ golf team qualified for the state golf tournament held in North Platte on Monday and Tuesday, October 9 and 10. Overall as a team, the golfers placed 8th with a total of 408 the first day, 405 the second, and 813 total.

Individually for the Lady Jays, Samantha Svendsen led her team with an individual score of 97 the first day and 96 on the second day to give her a total of 193. Sydney Erickson was right behind her, shooting a 100 the first day and a 94 the next to get her a total score of 194. Amber Albrecht shot a 103 the first day, 104 the second, and her total score was 207. Paige Johnson shot a 108 the first day and 11 the second to give herself a total score of 219. Haley Dohmen shot a 120 the first day, 111 the second, and her total score was 231.

Svendsen was in a three-way tie for 27th, Erickson placed 30th, and Albrecht was in a four-way tie for 50th. Johnson placed 74th, and Dohmen tied for 87th.

“I was very pleased with the girls' performances,” coach Melinda Stelling said. “It was definitely a fun way to end the season.”
