PHS Band Competes in Harvest of Harmony

by Angelica Volquardsen

At the Harvest of Harmony parade in Grand Island, the Pride of the Bluejays marched in both the parade and field competition. The Jays received 3rd in class B in the parade, and they received a superior rating in field competition.

The parade showcased 99 bands in all. Band director Michael Sindt said, “I think for being our first year in many marching parades outside of Pierce, we represented our town very well.” The Jays also competed later on that day in the field marching competition, along with 13 other schools in Class B, at Grand Island High School. The Jays received a superior for their outstanding musical and marching fundamentals.

Sindt said, “I think we stepped it up from our previous performance overall even though some individual details need to be adjusted.”

The band will compete again in Ashland on Saturday, October 14.
