by Rhayna Waldner

Following the Bluejays’ Homecoming football game on Friday, October 6, Pierce crowned their homecoming king and queen, Collin Tinker and Maci Kroupa.

Also included in the Homecoming court were candidates Ashton Wragge, Braydan Waldner, Cody Yawn, Brenna Collison, Sidney Zimmerer, and Annie Johnson. The Letter Club representatives were Taylor Oestreich and Carly Sutherland, and crown bearers were Ella Bauermeister and Keaton Olson. Royalty was crowned by last year’s king and queen, Caleb Sullivan and Shianna Oestreich.

Leading up to coronation, the theme for the week was “Glow Bluejays.” Festivities throughout the week included dress-up days for every day of the week. Best-dressed for each day were given prizes. The winners for tie-dye day were Mackenzie Richmond and Sidney Zimmerer. For twin day, Maci Kroupa and Brenna Collison along with Hannah McCrady and Courtney Yawn were the winners. Wednesday was farmers vs. frats, and the winners for the farmers were Valyn Kirkpatrick, Jacob Kerber, Cody Brown, and Madison Altwine. The winners for the frats were Zach Weber, Samantha Svendsen and Jadon Magdanz. On Thursday, the dress up day asked that girls wear black, and boys wear white. The winners for the girls were the entire female staff and Alexis Schnoor. The winners for the boys included Jordan Sims, Kohlton Kleinschmit, and Cody Fuchs.

Also, on Thursday night, the football team had their annual car smash. Friday, while rain prevented the traditional parade through downtown, the festivities included a pep rally in the public elementary’s gym, where principal Mark Brahmer introduced members of various fall activities, as well as the Homecoming candidates. There was also a pep rally held at the high school, where the cheerleaders led the candidates and other student body members in several games. Also Friday, the juniors also hosted a successful tailgate at the football game to help raise money for prom. Finally, on Saturday night, senior high students attended the Homecoming dance that went from 8-11. The DJ that provided the music at the dance was Music Machine out of Norfolk.
