FFA Visits Emerson for Land Judging
By Brett Tinker
On Tuesday October 3, 22 FFA members competed in the regional land judging contest. Land judging is useful for understanding basic soil differences, how soil properties affect crop growth, why soils respond differently to management practices, and realizing the influence of land features on production and land protection. The contest consisted of 86 teams from northeast Nebraska. Out of the 4 teams that Piece fielded, the highest team consisted of Devon Unseld, Garret Kroupa, Dylan Svoboda, and Brett Tinker.
