Pierce High Cross Country

Cross Country Teams Have Strong Showing in Stanton

The junior and senior high cross country teams competed in Stanton on Thursday, September 28. The boys varsity team received 1st place overall.

For the varsity boys, Mason Sindelar got 1st with a time of 17:21. Cole Vogt got 3rd with a time of 17:57, Ian Fisher got 5th place with a time of 17:58, Isaac Lambrecht got 6th place with a time of 18:03, Miles Garcia got 12th place with a time of 19:18, Colt Arnold got 15th with a time of 19:45, and Dalton Haase got 28th place with a time of 20:54.

For the varsity girl’s solo runner, Bridget Raff received 10th place with a time of 24:43.

For the junior high girls’ division, Alexus Sindelar got 1st with a time of 11:26, Callie Arnold got 3rd place with a time of 12:11, and Addison Sporleder got 8th place with a time of 14:32.

“Considering all of them had already raced earlier in the week, I thought they performed very well,” said coach Gary Shada.

The next cross country meet for the high schoolers will be Mid-States held on Thursday, October 5, hosted by Norfolk Catholic. The junior high runners will be competing again on Saturday, October 7, at Papillion LaVista South.


Cross Country Team Competes in UNK Meet

The Pierce High cross country team headed down to the University of Nebraska Kearney to compete in the UNK cross country meet on Monday, September 25. The boys’ team placed 4th overall.

Individually, 243 competitors ran in the boys’ division, and Mason Sindelar placed 8th overall with a time of 17:42.63. Ian Fisher placed 22nd with a time of 18:29.14. Isaac Lambrecht placed 44th with a time of 19:05.15, Cole Vogt placed 48th with a time of 19:08.37, and Miles Garcia placed 49th with 19:09.05. Colt Arnold placed 132nd with a time of 20:37.86, and Dalton Haase placed 177th with 21:51.07.

For the girls’ division, Bridget Raff ran for 25:02.22 to place her 102nd out of 162 runners.

The cross country runners’ next meet will be the Mid-States meet held at Norfolk Catholic on Thursday, October 5.


JH Lady Jays Run Home at Pierce Invite

The junior high girls’ cross country team competed at the Pierce Invite on Tuesday, September 26, and placed 4th overall.

lAlexus Sindelar led her team and the race with the placing of 1st and time of 12:42. Callie Arnold followed closely behind with 4th place and a time of 13:09. Thirty-fifth place was taken by Addison Sporleder with her time of 16:22. Ciara Garcia brought up the rear with 42nd place and a time of 17:04.

Coach Gary Shada said of the girls’ performance, “I thought they ran very well and think they can improve on how they run the middle portions of the races.”

The next JH cross country meet took place on Thursday, September 28, at Stanton. They will compete again on Tuesday, October 10, at Yankton.
